About KBPA

The Players Are the Game.

The Kenya Basketball Players Association (KBPA) is a newly established, player-led institution created to represent, protect and advance the interests of basketball players across Kenya.

As basketball continues to grow in national and continental significance, KBPA exists to ensure that the players who carry the sport have a credible and collective voice through which their welfare, safety, rights and professional development can be championed.

Protect. Represent. Empower.

Our Story

KBPA was established from a simple belief: basketball is only as strong as the people who play it.

The Association brings players together under a common platform to build a stronger, more organised and more representative voice for basketball players across Kenya.

As a newly established institution, KBPA is focused on building the structures, relationships and programmes needed to serve players effectively. Its founding direction has been shaped by the priorities of its founding members and early consultations with stakeholders within the basketball community.

From its establishment and registration through its founding term and toward its first full election cycle, KBPA is committed to building an institution that players can trust and that stakeholders can engage with confidently.

Our Strategic Direction

KBPA is building for the long term.

Its founding Strategic Plan provides a roadmap for establishing the Association as a credible and sustainable institution while remaining realistic about the challenges of building a new organisation.

The founding term is focused on moving KBPA from establishment and registration toward a stronger institutional foundation and, ultimately, its first full election cycle.

This includes strengthening the Association's structures, growing its membership, developing meaningful programmes for players, building relationships with stakeholders and establishing systems that can support KBPA's continued growth.

Building With the Basketball Community

KBPA recognises that the advancement of basketball in Kenya requires collaboration. We are committed to building constructive relationships with the Kenya Basketball Federation, government agencies, sponsors and other organisations and stakeholders who share an interest in the growth and development of Kenyan basketball.

Through collaboration, KBPA seeks to contribute to a basketball ecosystem in which players are organised, represented, supported and empowered to reach their full potential.

The Future We Are Building

We are building an institution that players can rely on throughout their careers: one that listens to them, represents their interests, protects their welfare and creates pathways for their continued growth.

A stronger player contributes to a stronger game.

And a stronger game creates a stronger basketball community for everyone.

Your Career. Your Voice. Your Association.

Whether you are a player looking to become part of KBPA, a stakeholder interested in working with us, or someone seeking to understand our work, there is a place for you in the journey.
